Helping students succeed is my passion. Whether it is preparing for the SAT or ACT or completing college application essays, I enjoy being a resource to students and families, eliminating the anxious feelings that can often accompany the pathway to college .
Most of my life has been spent working in educational roles that focus on helping students. After earning my BA from the University of South Carolina, I taught upper level history classes while completing my Master's degree. At the same time, I began working as a SAT/ACT test prep tutor for a tutoring company in South Carolina called The Learning Place. Upon completion of my Master's Degree, I married Dan and we relocated to Richmond, Virginia. Once we were settled in Richmond, I taught in Henrico County for the next 7 years during which time I also began working towards my Doctorate in Education at VCU, completing my continuing doctoral status, CDS. Although life took me in a different direction with the start of a family, I look forward to opportunities for growing and continuing to learn.
As a compassionate, knowledgeable, and understanding resource, I have assisted students and families throughout Richmond for more than 16 years. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband Dan, our three kids, Grant, Nate, and Emily Grace, and our rescue dog Dixie Belle. I also look forward to getting in a good run, workout or even a fun tennis match with friends during my down time.
As a mom, I recognize the value in positive relationships with our children, especially when stresses can be high. Knowing there is someone who can help with the stresses that can accompany the college application process means the experience can be more relaxed, enjoyable, and celebrated. I look forward to being a resource for your college bound teen and your family!
